Pastor Joel Arwood is the Lead Pastor of Purpose Church
Pastor Joel Arwood is a distinct voice in the kingdom of God. He is the lead pastor and founder of Purpose Church in Sevierville, TN, and is honored to be an Ordained Bishop with the Church of God. He grew up in the mountains of East Tennessee and recognized the call of God on his life at a young age.
Before starting Purpose Church, Pastor Joel served as a State Evangelist for the Church of God in Tennessee. He also served as the Chairman of the Tennessee Church of God Evangelism & Home Missions Board, and has served on numerous other boards and committees. Today, he serves on the Tennessee Church of God State Council. Many leaders recognize the gift Pastor Joel has in communicating the message of the baptism in the Holy Spirit.
Pastor Joel is married to his true love Theresa and they have four children together.
Pastor Theresa is a beautiful woman of God. She was born and raised near Columbia, SC. Pastor Theresa was saved and at age 20 the night she met Pastor Joel. Just a few short weeks later she was baptized in with the Holy Ghost during prayer as she intensely sought God for His will for her life. Just like her husband, she is a powerful voice in declaring the Word of God. She is Co-Pastor and Worship Pastor at Purpose Church. She is also the founder of W.O.W. Women of Worship Israel Tour. Pastor Theresa also serves on the Tennessee Church of God Women’s Ministries Board and is the liaison from the Women’s Ministries Board to the Tennessee Pastor’s Wives Retreat Board. Pastor Theresa is an Ordained Minister with the Church of God Cleveland, TN.
Pastor Theresa is happily married to Pastor Joel and they have four children together.
Theresa Arwood is the Co-Pastor and Worship Pastor at Purpose Church
Marvin completed his undergraduate degree at Lee University in Pastoral Ministry in 2008 and completed his Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary in 2013. Marvin is currently a Ph.D. student at Walden University specializing in Public Policy and Administration with a completion date of 2019. Marvin has served in local congregations as a children’s pastor, youth pastor, administrative pastor, and has also served on a church plant team. He is a licensed Exhorter in the Church of God Marvin is married to Hannah his college sweetheart. They have 6 children together and have adopted 2 teen boys from the COG Children’s Home.
